The first solar powered African E-Bikes were introduced to Namibia in 2015. Since then, our wide selection of customisable electric bicycles have offered a more affordable, convenient and sustainable solution to the daily mobility needs of Namibians – and beyond!

This project is supported by the IKI Small Grants programme strengthening local solutions for effective climate and biodiversity action. IKI Small Grants is part of Germany’s International Climate Initiative (IKI). It is funded by the German Federal Government and carried out by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.

WHY E-BIKES?
You might wonder – what exactly is an e-bike? An electric bicycle is just like a normal bicycle, but better: the battery and motor provide the rider with plenty of extra support to go anywhere, without the exhaustion.
E-bikes make cycling more accessible to different riders and fitness levels, including children, senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Hills, long distances, or hot weather are no longer big obstacles. Apart from saving the rider energy, it also saves time and money, because you'll still have extra cash by the end of the month that would have otherwise been used for public transport, or fuel and vehicle maintenance. As a bonus, riding an e-bike requires no special training or any licenses.
What’s more, e-bike batteries can be recharged, for free, by the sun. Our solar recharge systems provide plenty of energy to keep our electric bicycles moving – and the planet happy :)
