The Full Story
Ebikes4Africa is about more than just E-Bikes. We are a social enterprise that provides access to e-mobility and solar recharge systems to rural and urban areas across Africa. As the first to introduce this technology to developing countries, we believe that our products and projects create the opportunity for Africa to be on the forefront of future-driven transport development initiatives.
A pioneering project for Namibia and Africa, we provide electric-assist bicycles to beneficiaries for whom conventional bicycles are limited in their usefulness, and a car not an option. Electric bicycles are simply the most affordable and efficient way of moving, and because it is supported by an electric motor and battery, significantly increases distance, speed and ease of travel for better access to vital facilities.
We apply our skills, experience and technology to empower locals in their everyday environment, whether it is transporting children to school or goods to the market, patrolling protected areas or protecting our precious natural resources, Ebikes4Africa presents a solution for every mobility need. To complement our E-Bikes, we also provide communities and off-grid areas with solar powered E-Hubs to provide a more sustainable source of energy. Our mobility and energy solutions cater to users ranging from kindergarten teachers to healthcare workers, environmental educators, anti-poaching patrol units, game guards, tourism enterprises, entrepreneurs, farmers and commuters – empowering and mobilising on two wheels and through the sun’s energy.
Ebikes4Africa is 100% carbon neutral, emission- and noise-free, and can be used by everyone. What makes it even better is that our products are designed in Namibia and made for Africa.
WHY E-BIKES?
You might wonder – what exactly is an e-bike? An electric bicycle is just like a normal bicycle, but better: the battery and motor provide the rider with plenty of extra support to go anywhere, without the exhaustion.
E-bikes make cycling more accessible to different riders and fitness levels, including children, senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Hills, long distances, or hot weather are no longer big obstacles. Apart from saving the rider energy, it also saves time and money, because you'll still have extra cash by the end of the month that would have otherwise been used for public transport, or fuel and vehicle maintenance. As a bonus, riding an e-bike requires no special training or any licenses.
What’s more, e-bike batteries can be recharged, for free, by the sun. Our solar recharge systems provide plenty of energy to keep our electric bicycles moving – and the planet happy :)
