EcoVillage Swakopmund - In a nutshell
- Buy an existing farm with a crowd-funding campaign and establish an EcoVillage to create a self sustaining community
- The backers will get TimeShares to life and work on the farm valide for the next 10 years
- With the help of the backers during their stay, different projects will be implemented (food production, sustainable housing)
- The aim is to make the EcoVillage self sustaining and able to supply food to the local community
"An EcoVillage is a community that is consciously designed through all four dimensions of sustainability (social, culture, ecology and economy) to regenerate social and natural environments."
What is an EcoVillage? The definition of ‘EcoVillage’ is broad, allowing for many different kinds of communities and projects to be recognised. Because each EcoVillage is designed by the people, according to their vision, context, culture and interests, no two are alike.
While every EcoVillage is unique, they can be categorized into two general categories, which can be found in either rural or urban settings:
- traditional – existing rural villages and communities that decide to design their own pathway into the future, using participatory processes to combine life-sustaining traditional wisdom and positive new innovation.
- intentional – created by people who come together afresh with a shared purpose or vision.
Our plan to make the idea of the EcoVillage Swakopmund reality:

Funding: Crowd-funding Campaign
A TimeShare ticket will allow a backer to stay stay on the farm for free. The ticket is valid for 10 years and can be used anytime. The funds collected by the crowd will be used to buy the farm and material for the planned infrastructure. The price for one TimeShare ticket (one month) is 300 EURO, there will be 1000 months available (300 000EURO).
With the help of the backers coming to Namibia, the EcoVillage will be build overtime.
The focus will be on sustainable food production and sustainable housing
